This weekend (May 26-27) is Carnaval San Francisco 2007, and it promises to be nothing like HBO’s creepy (but excellent) Dustbowl show. For one thing, sports fans will be flocking to the NBA Nation area, where there will be something for NBA fans of all ages.
For today’s youth, there will be a plethora of the newest NBA video games. For the testosterone-infested fan, the Warrior Girls will be on hand. For the francophiles, Mickael Pietrus will be sipping lattes. For the middle-aged fan who constantly waxes poetic about the NBA of yore, Hall of Famer Rick Barry–fanny pack and all–will be meeting and greeting.
In all seriousness though, it should be a great event with plenty of Warriors personnel on hand. Here’s the most updated schedule for the celebrity appearances:
*Saturday, May 26*
11am-12pm: Thunder, Warriors mascot
12pm-3pm: Warrior Girls, Dance Team
2pm-3pm: Mickael Pietrus (Golden State Warriors)
4pm-5pm: Matt Barnes (Golden State Warriors)*Sunday, May 27*
11am-12pm: Thunder, Warriors mascot
12pm-3pm: Warrior Girls, Dance Team
2pm-3pm: Rick Barry (THE Hall of Famer)
Also worth noting: NBA Nation will host a Skills Challenge Competition (like at the All-Star Game), and the winner will travel to Philadelphia in July to represent San Francisco. For more info, check out the official websites.
The festival takes place all weekend (11am-6pm) on Harrison Street, between 16th and 24th.
