Matt Cain pitched six innings of no-hit ball yesterday as the Giants’ pitching staff combined for a two-hitter … and still lost. The anemic offense continued for the Gigantes, with no signs of improving. They’re hitting .232 as a team. Hell, if they’re this bad at the beginning of the season, how bad will they be once the old men start getting tired toward the mid-season grind?Perhaps Brian Sabean and company are starting to realize the truth about old ballclubs: sure they worked out well–thrived even–during the late 90s and early 2000s, but once steroids and “greenies” were outlawed, those old guys lose a little spring in their step.
At least Benitez hasn’t had an opportunity to blow a save …
Anyway, today we will start a new feature here at SayHey: the homer watch. No, it has nothing to do with Hank Aaron’s record.
(Hey, Hootie & the Blowfish just came on Pandora’s John Lennon channel! We miss those guys!)
The Homer Watch: Alex Rodriguez: 5 homeruns for the year, San Francisco Giants: 2 homeruns for the year.
