Monta Ellis, fresh off the NBA’s Most Improved Player Award, a brand new shoe deal and a not-so-spiffy jean shorts outfit (By the way, can anyone think of a worse “fashion” trend than bluetooths in the ear?) in the picture above, ran into some, um, trouble yesterday. The Warriors’ second-year phenom strained his back while signing an autograph:
“I was reaching up to sign an autograph for a kid,” Ellis said. “I thought I could work it out. That wasn’t the case.”
It’s the latest setback for Ellis, who has slid to the end of coach Don Nelson’s rotation after winning the NBA’s Most Improved Player award for his performance during the regular season.
World class physical specimens, these basketball players. The moral of the story: athletes should never write.
