If More Teams Adopted State Nicknames …

https://i1.wp.com/webzoom.freewebs.com/goldenstategourdsociety/logo1.JPGOf the many great mysteries in sports, the name “Golden State Warriors” might be the most puzzling. Why not Oakland Warriors? California Warriors? Even the Bay Warriors has a nice little ring to it.

The use of a state nickname has perplexed sports fans everywhere throughout time. As far as we can tell, the Warriors are the only team that has a non-state, non-city as its locale. So, in an effort to make us Warrior fans feel better, we present some options for other teams to consider (with the help of Wikipedia’s list of official and unofficial state nicknames):

The Butternut State Titans

The Los Angeles Golden State Angels of Anaheim

The Rocky Mountain State Rockies

The Grand Canyon State Suns

The Gopher State Vikings

Land of the Red Man Hornets

Any other good ones?
