Lots happened this weekend, so in case you spent the weekend in the backyard trying to make a pond habitat for your toy dinosaurs, here’s a quick recap. More on everything later today.
- The 49ers played their offensive starters for most of the first half in the annual Battle of the Bay. Alex Smith and the entire offense looked impressive, but the defense looked shaky all around. In the end, the San Francisco reserves scored with 47 seconds left to pull off a 26-21 victory at the ‘Stick. [SFGate]
- The Giants, winners of four in a row, try to complete a four-game sweep of the Marlins today. Bochy’s Boys have looked awful good lately. Barry Estes tossed his best game of the year on Friday, Barry Bonds hit #760 on Saturday and the Sunday kids took advantage of three Florida errors in the seventh inning yesterday.
- Whew! The A’s barely avoided a sweep at the hands of your Kansas City Royals.
- Rumor has it that Warriors backup guard/former Euro superstar/former playoffs cheerleader Sarunas Jasikevicius has reached an agreement with Olympiakos. This could mean that the Euro team would buy out his contract, which would be yet another encouraging long-term salary cap move for the W’s. Story developing. [Golden State of Mind]
